If you are experiencing an issue where events are being duplicated in your calendar (mainly ones that were imported via class schedule process), this document will guide you through steps to help resolve the problem. IMPORTANT: 3/2/2015 - Further troubleshooting may have found a cause to the problem where some users are getting duplicate events - Outlook 2011 users, who have their class schedule automatically imported are seeing these duplicates in other clients (Outlook on the web, mobile devices, etc.). A case has been opened with Microsoft and detailed logging information has been provided. Recently a case was open with Microsoft regarding a reoccurring issue where customers' events would be duplicated a numerous amount of times in their calendar, up to thousands. Microsoft believes it is another client causing the issue but the problem can not be easily reproduced in order to find a solution to the recreating events. As of now, there are currently two solutions we can provide to help resolve the problem.
Created an Outlook recurring appointment and then could neither delete an occurrence of the appointment nor the entire series in Outlook. The only way to delete the appointment was to delete the series on both the iPhone and in Outlook. Old appointments get deleted automatically I noticed that my older appointments get deleted automatically after a couple of weeks. As I’m using the calendar also as a log of where I’ve been, I really need to keep these old appointments as a reference.
Contact Us If you do not have access to any Outlook clients, you can contact us to delete the duplicate events for you. To contact us, please refer to the following document:. Solution Through an Outlook Client. Remove your account from all devices other than the Outlook client you will be working from. Below are other documents regarding how to remove your account from different clients and mobile devices. Review the documents and make sure you have removed your account from ALL that may apply to you.
Next, you will need to make sure your Outlook client is properly configured. If your Outlook client is not properly configured please follow the steps provided in one of the following documents based on what version of Outlook you are configuring. Below are the steps for each outlook client to view your repeating events in List View to make deleting all of them much easier. Select which client version you have:. Open Outlook 2016/2013 and select the calendar tab on the bottom left. After opening the calendar tab, select the calendar that contains the duplicated events located on the left hand side.
After selecting the calendar with the duplicated events, click the view tab on the top of the screen. On the top left of the screen, click Change View and then select List. This will put your calendar into List View. Once list view is active, select all of the repeated events using shift + click. When all of the events are selected, right click the list and click Delete.
Important: Make sure you only have the duplicate items selected. After deleting all the duplicate items, quit out of Outlook. Log into the and verify that the events have been deleted successfully. If you still see the duplicates, repeat the steps above until the deleted events no longer appear in Outlook on the web. Reconnect your accounts after verifying Outlook on the web within your devices. For desktop applications please create a new profile. When all of the events are selected, right click the list and click Delete. Important: Make sure you only have the duplicate items selected. After deleting all the duplicate instances, quit out of Outlook. Log into the and verify that the events have been deleted successfully.
If you still see the duplicates, repeat the steps above until the deleted events no longer appear in Outlook on the web. Reconnect your accounts after verifying Outlook on the web within your devices.

When cleanreminders doesn't work, the reminder belongs to and delete it. When you can't find the appointment, you need to use to browse 'inside' the message store and delete the reminders. Outlook will then rebuild the list with just the valid reminders. Use Cleanreminders switch The easiest way to try to get rid of corrupt reminders is by closing Outlook and reopening it using the /cleanreminders switch. To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog. Type outlook /cleanreminders in the field and press Ok.
Make sure you have a space between Outlook and the slash. Using 'outlook.exe' is optional - just the program name should work. A (very) few people will need to use the full path to outlook.exe.
Click Browse and look under C: Program Files Microsoft Office (C: Program Files (x86) Microsoft Office if using 64-bit Windows). Delete the Appointment Sometimes the cleanreminders switch doesn't help. When this happens, look for the appointment that is associated with the reminder and delete it. If you can't find it, you'll need to use MFCMAPI to delete the reminder. Use MFCMAPI Please note the steps are slightly different when you use a pst file or Exchange mailboxes and may vary slightly with newer versions of MFCMAPI.
These instructions were last updated for MFCMAPI v15, March 2012. PST File (used with POP3 and IMAP accounts). Run MFCMAPI. Go to Session, Logon. Select your profile.
Select your data file where the stuck reminder is. (It may be use your email address as the filename.).
Expand 'Root Container'. Right click 'Reminders' and select 'Open Contents Table'. New Window Launches with Title Reminders. Find the corrupt reminder(s) then right click and select 'Delete Message'. Do not select all reminders, as that will delete all appointments. Close MFCMAPI Alternately, you can delete the Reminder folder and Outlook will rebuild the valid reminders. Exchange Mailbox.
Run MFCMAPI. Go to Session, Logon. Select your profile. Select your Mailbox. Expand 'Root - Mailbox'. Expand 'Finders'.
Right click 'Reminders' and select 'Open Contents Table'. New Window Launches with title 'Reminders'. Find the corrupt reminder(s) then right click and select 'Delete Message'. Do not select all reminders, as that will delete all appointments.

Close MFCMAPI You may need to log into the mailbox using a non-cached profile and delete the corrupt reminders from the mailbox on the server too. Delete Outlook Reminders Tutorial When you are deleting reminders from Exchange accounts, choose your Mailbox name. When you are deleting reminders from POP3 accounts or.pst files, right click on the pst name that contains the corrupt reminder. Remember: Delete only the corrupt reminder(s) when you delete from inside the reminder folder you are deleting the appointment too. If you can't find the corrupt reminder, you can delete the entire Reminders folder. Outlook will rebuild the folder and the (good) reminders.
I have tried the clea reminders switch and the cleansniff switch and the MFCMAPI None of them work and I now have another reminder that won't dismiss when I try to delete the reminders folder I get the following error message Error: Code: MAPIEINVALIDENTRYID 0x80040107 Function lpSourceFolder-CopyMessages( lpEIDs, NULL, lpWasteFolder, lpProgress? (ULONGPTR)hWnd: NULL, lpProgress, ulCopyFlags) File MAPIFunctions.cpp Line 991 The problem appointments were originally entered on my phone in Google calendar and then synced with OUtlook but most appointments don't have this problem.
